Author : Shivo

Android users can now harness the power of voice typing to effortlessly input text in any app with a text box. Whether you're balancing groceries, gripping a subway rail, or dealing with a finicky cracked screen, voice typing offers a hands-free solution that’s both convenient and versatile.

With AI assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Gemini making it second nature to talk to our devices.

Here’s how Android users can make the most of this built-in feature to streamline texting, emailing, and filling out web forms.

On Android devices, such as Google’s Pixel phones, the default Gboard keyboard makes voice typing a breeze. When the keyboard appears, simply tap the microphone icon on the far right to start speaking.

For a larger view, tap the downward arrow next to the mic. Users can issue commands like “delete” to erase the last word, “clear all” to reset the text box, or “next” and “previous” to move between fields.

Emojis? Just say “smiling face emoji” or “thumbs up emoji.” Suggestions below the text box guide you on what to say next, like “send” for messaging apps or “search” when browsing photos. To keep voice typing active across apps, double-tap the mic icon to lock it on until you’re ready to stop.

If voice typing isn’t working, ensure it’s enabled by navigating to ☸Settings > System > Keyboard > On-screen keyboard > Gboard > Voice typing. Here, you can also enable offline access or toggle automatic punctuation for smoother dictation.

For Samsung Galaxy users, the default Samsung Keyboard offers a similar experience, with the microphone icon located in the lower left corner. To confirm voice input is active, go to Settings > General management > Samsung keyboard > Voice input.

“Voice typing is a lifesaver for anyone who wants to stay productive without being glued to their screen,” says tech expert Jamal Carter. “It’s intuitive, fast, and works seamlessly across apps.”

Next time your hands are full or typing feels like a chore, just tap the mic and let your voice take over.
