Makerere, Uganda - This isn't the first time Pastor Ssempa has faced danger. He's been speaking out against homosexuality in Uganda, which has made some people angry. He has been getting threats and feeling unsafe for a while now.
To protect himself, Pastor Ssempa built a secret hiding place, like a go down. He went there to hide for a bit. But on Saturday, he left his hiding place to do some work on his house. That is when the trouble happened.
Six men in two cars ambushed him, but Pastor Ssempa managed to escape without getting hurt. He thinks may be the attackers were working with some corrupt military people or others who don't like his views on homosexuality.
After the attack, Pastor Ssempa went to the police and told them what happened. They gave him two bodyguards to keep him safe. He is still shaken but grateful to be alive.
