Maama Linda, a seasoned market retailer, may not rear chickens herself, but her deep understanding of the trade has made her an invaluable resource for both seasoned and aspiring poultry farmers. 

"I don't have the space to rear chickens at home," she explained, "but I need to buy and sell them here in the market because it's my main source of income."

Despite the challenges that come with any business venture, Maama Linda's passion for the poultry trade shines through.

"The key to successful chicken rearing is to provide them with a clean, comfortable environment," Maama Linda advised. "Make sure their cage is well-ventilated and free of any dampness or drafts. This will help keep them healthy and happy."


She also stressed the importance of a balanced diet, emphasizing the need for a mix of grains, proteins, and vitamins to ensure the chickens' optimal growth and egg production. "Chickens are not too different from us, you know," Maama Linda said. "They need a varied and nutritious diet to thrive."

When it comes to selling the chickens, Maama Linda's expertise shines. "I always make sure my chickens are clean, well-fed, and in good condition before bringing them to the market," she said. "Customers want to see healthy, vibrant birds, and I make sure to deliver just that."
