Kampala - Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni, sparked a heated debate on X formerly Twitter Tuesday morning with a series of tweets aimed at Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, the President of the National Unity Platform.
Muhoozi's tweets targeted Bobi Wine's music legacy and physical appearance, drawing a comparison between him and the legendary musician Bob Marley;
"Kabobi tries to pretend that he is Bob Marley's successor. First of all, Bob Marley sang legendary music! Bob Marley was a handsome Munyankore whose teeth were organised! Kabobi's teeth are very disorganised!"
Muhoozi tweeted.
Bobi Wine responded quickly, firing back at Muhoozi with a series of tweets.
"Teeth or no teeth, ‘KaBobi’ is giving you and your father sleepless nights. No wonder you’re drinking yourself silly and tweeting nonsense in the middle of the night. Go on, let the world know who you really are!"
Joel Ssenyonyi, the National Unity Platform's spokesperson and Leader of Opposition in the Ugandan Parliament, also weighed in on the issue, criticizing Muhoozi's comments as "petty" and "unbecoming" of a military leader. "It's unfortunate that General Muhoozi has chosen to engage in personal attacks rather than addressing the real issues facing our country," Ssenyonyi said in a statement. "We urge him to focus on his duties as a military leader rather than trying to settle personal scores on social media."
The exchange between Muhoozi and Bobi Wine is the latest in a long-standing rivalry between the two. Muhoozi has previously praised other opposition leaders, sparking speculation about his intentions.

The debate sparked by the tweets has been lively, with many Ugandans weighing in on social media. While some have defended Muhoozi's right to express his opinions, others have criticized his comments as insensitive and divisive. The exchange is likely to continue, with many eagerly awaiting the next move in this ongoing rivalry.
As the debate rages on, many are questioning the role of social media in Ugandan politics. While social media has provided a platform for politicians to engage with their constituents, it has also been used to spread hate speech and personal attacks.
