Kampala, Uganda - At the invitation of the Health Minister, Dr. Ninsiima shared vital information on the highly infectious disease, emphasizing its transmission from animals to humans, which is said to have evolved from Congo.

"It starts as an animalistic disease, transmitted from animal to animal, mainly through monkeys," Dr. Ninsiima explained. "The disease then spreads to humans through direct contact with infected animals or body fluids such as sweat, sperm, and flu."

Dr. Ninsiima outlined the symptoms of Monkeypox, including:

- Pains
- Colds
- Fatigue
- Skin rash (distinct from measles)

She also highlighted the 21-day incubation period and the disease's impact on vital organs like the heart and liver.

Students were advised on prevention measures:
- Masking
- Sanitizing
- Abstaining from contact with infected individuals or animals

Dr. Ninsiima expressed concern about the lack of officially recognized treatment or vaccines in Africa, contrasting with availability in some European countries.

Uganda's reported cases of Monkeypox underscored the need for awareness and precautions.

Dr. Ninsiima stressed, "Monkeypox is highly infectious; we must take immediate action to contain its spread."

RIBTE's Health Minister commended Dr. Ninsiima for sharing her expertise, emphasizing the institute's commitment to student health and well-being.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students engaged with Dr. Ninsiima on various aspects of Monkeypox.
