NEWS UPDATES: Disaster Strikes Rwampara - Waragi Distilling Drum Bursts, One Claimed Dead!

Rwampala, Uganda - In the small district of Rwampara, a terrible accident occurred on a typical Thursday evening. Allen Tusehmereirwe, a 35-year-old woman, was preparing waragi, a local gin, in a swamp near her home. She was accompanied by her husband, Orikimanya Nelson.

As they worked, the distilling drum suddenly developed a leakage due to improper sealing.

Before they could react, the drum burst into flames, exploding with strong force. The cover was blown off, striking Allen on the back with tremendous impact.

Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene, with the chairperson of Rurama Cell, Karyango Mirembe Yosam, stating that the drum hit Allen at a distance of 15 meters, almost shattering her head.

Despite efforts to save her, Allen succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind her grieving husband and community.

The police were quick to respond, with Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirming the incident. "The drum exploded due to a leakage caused by improper sealing during the distilling process," he explained.

As the community mourns the loss of Allen, her husband Nelson is left to pick up the pieces. "We had been using the distilling drum for the last three years without incident," he said, still trying to come to terms with the disaster.

This horrible accident serves as a caution reminder of the importance of safety pre-warnings and proper equipment maintenance.
