Musawo Agnes's expertise and passion for agriculture make her a valuable resource for farmers seeking to succeed in coffee production and all agriculture based varieties.
Mityana, Uganda - Musawo Agnes, a renowned agriculture expert, has shared valuable tips with farmers in Mityana and Uganda too to boost coffee production. In an exclusive interview with ShivoUpdates Media, Musawo Agnes emphasized the importance of selecting high-quality seedlings, preparing suitable soil, and proper care for coffee plantations.
Musawo Agnes said that choosing the right seedlings is very important. "Don't just buy any seedling because of personal relationships or convenience," she advised. "Look for disease-resistant seedlings that are suitable for Uganda's climate."
She also noted that Uganda's soil may not be naturally fertile enough to support coffee production. "Test your soil to determine its pH levels and nutrient content, and amend it if necessary," she said.Musawo Agnes also recommended mixing different types of coffee in the same garden. "KR1 and KR2, for example, can be planted together to increase productivity through cross-pollination," she explained.
She also said that using approved agro-chemicals available in the Ugandan market can help boost yields.
Proper care for coffee plantations is also crucial, said Musawo Agie. "Regular pruning, thinning, and pest management can significantly improve air circulation and sunlight penetration, leading to healthier plants and higher yields," she explained. She encouraged farmers in Mityana and surrounding districts and towns like Kisanganyi, Mubende, Banda, Kasanda, Ssenyonyi, and Busujju to adopt these methods to enhance coffee production.
Agie also concluded saying when you follow the above tips and staying committed, all farmers can significantly improve their coffee yields and quality
By her cautious advice, aspiring coffee farmers can set themselves up for success and contribute to Uganda's thriving coffee industry. With the right techniques and dedication, coffee farmers in Mityana can achieve great things and make a positive impact on their communities.
